AMANDA: Alright, so our next set of questions are about COVID symptoms. As the weather is getting warmer and the allergy season is starting up, how can we distinguish COVID symptoms from seasonal allergy symptoms?
DR. LIO: Some of the symptoms are actually pretty similar. If you have a runny nose, if you have congestion, if you have a sore throat, you could have allergies, or you could actually have COVID. It is the same between COVID and other common colds. Some of the symptoms overlap, so it can be difficult to tell the difference. Usually, with allergies, there will be some components of itching: your eyes will be itchy or you’ll have watery eyes. That, we don’t see with COVID. So that could be something that can help differentiate them. But again, if you are having congestion, if your nose is kind of clogged up, or you have runny nose, mild symptoms , we also see these with COVID.
